Escapade - Your solution for costumes

Thursday, October 8, 2009 · 0 comments

I was looking for a batgirl costume for my little daughter who wanted to participate in the fancy dress competition at her school. As usual, I was surfing around to find my pick and suddenly got stuck to the Escapade website. I personally prefer neat and easily accessible sites where I can find my pick easily. This site seemed to suite my preferences and I, therefore, spent some time there. The experience was good enough to share with others.
The site prefers a variety of costumes that you can buy or hire for a certain period of time. There is a wide range of Disney costumes, Star Wars costumes, retro costumes, Christmas costumes, children costumes, historical costumes; the list is never ending. The costumes available here are segregated into two different categories; costumes to hire and costumes to buy. You can buy fancy masks, hats, fancy dress accessories, wigs, aprons and special effect contact lenses from here. There are also stage and circus costumes, horror costumes, fairy tales costumes, movie costumes, occupational costumes and more to hire. If you need to hire them for TV, stage or any other purpose, you just have to pick your one from their huge collection.
A company dedicated to fancy dress and costumes is sure to have a wide and varied range; so they have and that’s quite understood. But the thing that I must mention in particular is the safety measures these people have taken for their viewers and customers when it comes to on-line transactions. Firstly, the site is protected by McAfee, so when you enter the site, chances of being attacked by Spams and Trojans are thin and none. The site is also verified by MasterCard and Visa that assures a safe online transaction. The site is also approved by Verisign and W3C which means a visitor or proposed client need not to worry about anything else than shopping.

Life Partner Music Review

Saturday, July 25, 2009 · 0 comments

Now,I am going to tell you about the music of the film Life Partner. This is a new movie which stars Fardeen Khan,Tusshar Kapoor,Genelia D Souza,Prachi Shah and Govinda. The only song that I have heard in this movie "Kuke Kuke" and I liked it for all the wrong reasons. Before you download the movie songs, you may love to get a review so here it is for you.The review is written here.

Music Review:

EXPECTATIONS
With Pritam at the helm of affairs, you do expect a frothy album. And when Javed Akhtar joins the show, you look forward to the kind of songs that the combo comes up with. After all, the film is expected to be an out and out family entertainer with ample laughs in it. Moreover, actors like Govinda, Tusshar Kapoor and Genelia D'Souza do promise good fun. To add to this, since Life Partner is maiden production venture of Abbas-Mustan, one does expect a good album with a series of peppy numbers in the offering.

The album begins quite well with 'Kuke Kuke' and within 20 seconds you realize that this is a parody in the offering. Antara Mitra sings badly, as is the requirement of the situation where the girl (Genelia D'Souza) is supposed to be playing a really bad singer. While she sings in all her glory, Shaan and Debojeet Daata try to stop her from committing the 'crime'. Though there isn't much to take home lyrically since the song is set more into conversational mode, Pritam's tune is peppy enough, especially the part around the phrase 'Tauba Meri Tauba Meri', which makes 'Kuke Kuke' catchy enough. The 'remix version' is well placed too and adds on the young mood of the film.

'Teri Meri Yeh Zindagi' which follows next is nice and sweet but doesn't quite break any new grounds. A harmless number which has a decent melody to it, this Soham Chakraborty and Shreya Ghoshal duet is a love song which reminds one of 'Tere Bin' from Bhagam Bhag, though it has a little more pace to it.

There is quite some noise in store though with the arrival of 'Aage Aage' which is as annoying as it gets. In fact the entire idea of getting together a bunch of singers with Mika Singh, Shakti Singh, Ajay Jhingaran, Soham Chakraborty and Antara Mitra goes completely wrong. It is difficult to imagine Pritam coming up with a tune like this which was passé way back in 70s. Though placed as a fun number, it just doesn't justify its appearance in the album and is a quick skip.

Kirti Sagathia gets into his 'He Jee Re' mode once again in the 'garba' number 'Gunji Aangna Mein Shehnai'. Yet again, the number doesn't quite work and the tune is nothing better than a dozen odd songs belonging to this genre that has been heard before. Sunidhi Chauhan is heard for most part of the number but the number only acts as a hindrance in Life Partner from which one had entirely different expectations. Disappointing.

Guest lyricist Kumaar is roped in to write 'Poorza Poorza' which has Sunidhi Chauhan coming behind the mike once again. Set entirely in 'S For Soniya' [Kidnap] template (which was created by Pritam himself), 'Poorzaa Poorzaa' with Kunal Ganjawala also chipping in is 'heard today, enjoyed for the moment and forgotten tomorrow' number. Still, it is better than the likes of 'Aage Aage' and 'Gunji Aangna Mein Shehnai'. Also, at the least it managed to bring some fun back into the album with its 'remix version' making an appearance in the album.

OVERALL
Life Partner is hardly an album that a listener would want to partner for an entire lifetime. Only a couple of songs manage to make their presence felt but the remainder of the album ranges from average to disappointing. In the current times when there are quite a few other albums like Love Aaj Kal, Teree Sang, Kaminey and Jashnn making a mark, it would be an uphill task for Life Partner to make its presence felt.

Here is the link for which you were waiting.

Luck The Music

Now,music from another recent hindi fim and that is Luck. The songs of movie are also good and specially "Asma Luck","Khudaya Ve","Jee Le" are already creating buzz. So,I thought it will be better to post these songs right now. Here I post a short review (The actual review is written in this page) of the music of the film and you will also found the downliad link for the songs.

Review:

EXPECTATIONS

Soham Shah's last film Kaal had boasted of chartbuster music. So much so, that it is selling even till date while the songs continue to play across satellite channels. Now with a bigger star cast and much bigger budget in hands, Soham returns with Luck which is easily one of the most anticipated films of the season. Its thriller promo has done the trick and one expects that the music too will follow the high adrenalin mode and get the right thump in place; something which is much needed for the movie belonging to this genre.

MUSIC

Salim-Sulaiman and lyricist Shabbir Ahmed had created 'dhoom' with the soundtrack of Kaal and with Luck they come back to the scene once more. As expected, the title song ' Luck Aazma ' arrives first and goes on to find a place throughout the album with two more versions to follow. Sukhvinder Singh sounds ordinary in the original version but things get seriously zany once the 'remix version' of the song arrives a little later. A number about trying one's luck and taking risks that could be the now or never moment for the protagonists, ' Luck Aazma ' with supporting vocals by Satya Hinduja is a kind of number that should find a place throughout the film's narrative as a background score.

For the first time in the album a female voice is heard and it's a pleasant surprise indeed since the person making her debut behind the mike is none other than Shruti Haasan herself. Though it's a slow start for her version of the title track (named 'Aazma - Luck Is The Key'), one looks forward to what Shruti has to offer as she gets into the pop mode. She is well supported by Clinton Cerejo who gives her company with her English portions. Arrangements are a little different for this version as Salim-Sulaiman gives it an entirely Western touch unlike the Sukhwinder version that had an Indian feel to it. Shruti does well with her debut and it would be interesting to see if she managesThings get a little sombre with 'Khudaya Ve' that does remind of 'Yaar Mangyasi' [Kaante] but doesn't quite come close to it. A sad number about a protagonist missing the ones he loved most, this Salim Merchant sung number doesn't grow on you in spite of repeated hearing and at maximum turns out to be a passable inclusion in the album. Entry of it's 'remix version' is another surprise since a slow moving number like this which didn't have much appeal to begin with itself didn't quite warrant another version. This is not all as there is third version of the song as well, what with both Salim and Sulaiman coming together behind the mike for the version that is titled 'Radio Mix'!

Anvita Dutt Guptan is the guest lyricist in Luck as she contributes with 'Jee Le'. A number that comes with loads of attitude, 'Jee Le' is a Shruti Pathak number with Naresh Kamath giving her good support. A catchy track with a slight Middle-East flavour to it, it has a faint resemblance to 'Halla Re' [Neil N Nikki] that again was a Salim-Sulaiman composition. No, we are not really looking at a chartbuster track here but it has enough fodder to warrant a flashy picturisation and some glitzy choreography. Add to that a bevy of beauties and 'Jee Le' should be a good treat for eyes. And yes, this time around, presence of a 'remix version' does make sense!

However, there is a surprise dampener in the form of 'Laaga Le'. Why a dampener? Because the singer at the helm of affairs is Anushka Manchanda who is known for being choosy about her assignments. However, 'Lagaa Le' is nothing more than being plain and simple pedestrian as it is straight out of 80s and doesn't have a fresh appeal to it. Expect the song to play primarily in the background as characters continue to be engaged into something far more interesting on the fore front. With Robert'Bob'Omulo as the supporting voice, 'Lagaa Re' is as forgettable as it gets.

OVERALL

It would be just so wrong to compare Luck with Kaal as it doesn't even come remotely close to it. The album had so much potential in it and could well have been the Dus moment for the composer duo here. However, in spite of all the technology and free space for experimentation available to them, Salim-Sulaiman don't come up with anything better than a merely average soundtrack.

Finally,I have come out of e books and for the first time I am going to post the music downloads of a movie named as Kaminey. The music is already a hit and I thought it will be nice to share the download links for songs of this movie(I hope you do not have the music of this film already!).Before you can get the download please Go through this music review(I am not the person who made this review, all credits go to Darshit, you can find his blog at this link)

Kaminey Music Review:

Scintillating !! Mind Blasting !! Soothing !! Foot Tapping !! Touching !!

Whoa !! All feelings in one album !! Yes, Yes, who else, but Vishal Bhardwaj can do it better then this? As most recently, Omkara and No Smoking did raise the standards to a great high for this versatile Music Director-Writer-Director-Singer; He keeps coming with such great great soundtracks one by one. In one of the most anticipated soundtrack + movie of 2009; Vishal outscored once again this time. Soundtrack of his latest Kaminey, is just so awesome no doubt its an instant chart topping.

Dhen Te Nan.....is a rage nowadays. And why not? Its such an addictive tune. Many times the phrase is used in normal talks. Like to surprise someone. And Gulzar saab surprised all, with Vishal, in this striking track. Ok, Many accuse Vishal for ripping off Pulp Fiction, and many other claims are out there. But its not. The track is so genuinely original, and innovative. Which drags you to hit the floor right then. Vishal Dadlani and Sukhvindar Singh does 'Dhen Te Nan' job of singing. Wah !! Dhen Te Nan ! There goes my Ringtone now :-)

Achanak hi...all of a sudden a so subtle smooth sound comes out. Its a piano piece and OMG....There's Mohit Chauhan. Man, Man, I just can't get enough of your voice. Here comes 'Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai' a soft rock-ish love song, in Mohit's own style. Add dash of Gulzar saab's 'as always' out of the world words, And sprinkle a super fine Orchestration of Vishal. Man ..I could go on and on listening to it. What words, Gulzar saab comes up every time...Oh..sample this :

"Yaad Hai, peepal ke jiske Ghane saaye main,
Hum ne Gilhari ke joothe matar khaye the"

Then comes the song Raat Ke Dhai Baje. I was surprised by a voice in the track, instantly checked and found credits including Suresh Wadkar !! Its been a long time really. His 'Jaag Ja Ri' was unforgetable in Omkara. Other singers are Kunal Ganjawala, Sunidhi Chauhan, Rekha Bhardwaj & Earl. Also the track has the 'desi' feel. Like 'Dhen te nan' here also 'dhaun taun' kinda words. Making it more fun. Two phrases are taken from earlier song, 'pehli baar mohabbat ki hai, aakhiri baar mohabbat ki hai'. Innovation is thy name, Vishal !! Kunal sounds like his 'bheege honth' hangover is over :) Rekha and Sunidhi recreates Omkara magic. And tracks slows down at end with male domination, Suresh Wadkar touches you. But still, somewhere I feel this could be a little better [selfish, I am, after Omkara's item bombs].

And yes, then comes a track which is publicized as 'safe sex' song !! Yep, it has even 'AIDS' word into it !! Kudos Gulzar !! I bow to thee :D. 'Fatak' is definitely a weird name of a song. but only Vishal+Gulzar can justify that. And man, the way they does. 'Fatak' means a sound of whip. With a folk'ish' start, track goes fusion and goes a little sufi too. Why not? There is Kailash Kher and Sukhwinder Singh. The track reminds me of 'Kash Lagaa' from No Smoking, especially in antaras.

More More More.......i wanted more fabulous tracks..and there came, a scintillating soothing track soaked in symphony orchestration. the title track 'Kaminey' blows you out insanely. What more can you expect when Vishal himself is singing it?
[I have noted this, that every musician turns 'selfish' when it comes to singing own compostions, and they choose the best among the album; thats fantastic for listeners though :)]

Meri Aarzoo Kaminee...Mere Khwaab Bhi Kaminey....
Ek dil se dosti thi....Yeh Huzur bhi Kaminey.....

Words, Words !! Kaminey, no more remains a 'curse word' and it becomes a so intriguing in this track. Again Gulzar uses his favorite phrase 'Lal Ten laake, Aasman pe taango'. Wah Gulzar Saab Wah !! One of the best track of the year, easily. The track goes EXTRA HIGH just before second paragraph and get you flying high in musical sky !!!

Then we have Go Charlie Go - A extended theme of Dhen te Nan. Which again, is so addictive and doesn't let you down. Similarly remix version of Dhen Te Nan and Raat ke Dhai Baje are also keep you going.

[Oh..No..only six original tracks ??? Why not 10 songs like Omkara? :( I wanted more more.]

Enough said, this is one of the best of 2009, easily. So don't wait, just Go and Get It folks !! Till then.......Dhen Te Nannnnnnnnnnnnnnn.....Tena ten.....

Another Good Book

Monday, July 6, 2009 · 0 comments

Now,another good book is there for you. This is one of the best seller books and I am sure you all will be loving to read this book. The book is PRACTICAL MAGIC  and the author is Alice Hoffman. Before you download the book, you may want a review or may be an overview of the book,so I am attaching both of them here with the post,go through them if you are unsure whether to download it or not.

Overview:
For more than two hundred years, the Owens women had been blamed for everything that went wrong in their Massachusetts town. And Gillian and Sally endured that fate as well; as children, the sisters were outsiders. Their elderly aunts almost seemed to encourage the whispers of witchery, but all Gillian and Sally wanted was to escape. One would do so by marrying, the other by running away. But the bonds they shared brought them back-almost as if by magic...

Review:

Her 11th novel is Hoffman's best since Illumination Night. Again a scrim of magic lies gently over her fictional world, in which lilacs bloom riotously in July, a lovesick boy's elbows sizzle on a diner countertop and a toad expectorates a silver ring. The real and the magical worlds are almost seamlessly mixed here, the humor is sharper than in previous books, the characters' eccentricities grow credibly out of their past experiences and the poignant lessons they learn reverberate against the reader's heartstrings, stroked by Hoffman's lyrical prose. The Owens women have been witches for several generations. Orphaned Sally and Gillian Owens, raised by their spinster aunts in a spooky old house, grow up observing desperate women buying love potions in the kitchen and vow never to commit their hearts to passion. Fate, of course, intervenes. Steady, conscientious Sally marries, has two daughters and is widowed early. Impulsive, seductive Gillian goes through three divorces before she arrives at Sally's house with a dead body in her car. Meanwhile, Sally's daughters, replicas of their mother and their aunt, experience their own sexual awakenings. The inevitability of love and the torment and bliss of men and women gripped by desire is Hoffman's theme here, and she plays those variations with a new emphasis on sex scenes there's plenty of steamy detail and a pervasive use of the f-word. The dialogue is always on target, particularly the squabbling between siblings, and, as usual, weather plays a portentous role. Readers will relish this magical tale
